Gallery Talk at the Packard Reath Gallery
On Saturday, a group of 10 Coastal Camera Club members attended the Gallery Talk at Packard Reath Gallery in Lewes. Owner and curator Dinah Reath shared her perspectives and what she looks for when selecting artwork for the gallery. Dinah presented images from a variety of artists. These highlighted different interpretations of the same subject, special printing methods, and techniques such as hand painting. Dinah also offered recommendations to us for signing, numbering and professionally presenting our own images.
Dinah then introduced us to Mary Dubois, a local photographic artist. Mary brought several of her works which are layered in shadow boxes and present a subject from a variety of angles and unique perspectives. Mary explained her process for “seeing” as well as the process she uses to create them.
Afterward, club members got together for coffee, light snacks and discussion. We were unanimous in agreeing that this session was interesting, informative, and helped to inspire us from an artistic perspective.
