The 4th Annual Photography Contest and Exhibit reception was held Sat., May 16th at the Millsboro Art League with over 40 new works of art.  Erik Levy of Superior Mortgage who sponsored the contest said, “This is the best show of photography I’ve seen in a long time. I’m delighted to be able to support this local arts program.”

The Best in Show award went to the league’s web master, Tom Fluharty, whose manipulated digital image, 182 A.D., entered in the People category, depicts light rays descending upon a lone woman seated on a bench in the Jefferson Memorial, Washington, D.C. “It’s the kind of image that keeps your eyes riveted to it, both because of the beauty of the image and its thought provoking starkness, “ said MAL Board Member, Maureen Dyer Ickrath.

The show consisted of three categories, Wild Delaware, a play on local photographer Kevin Fleming’s new book, People, and World Wide View, a deliberately ambiguous category title meant to be interpreted by the artist.  And interpreted it was with titles and images as varied as a Buda, the Italian Dolomite mountains, a statue of a Roman goddess, and an abstract entitled Glasgow School of Art by local multi-media artist, Dale Sheldon.
