Wildlife SIG July outing to Trap Pond
July 22, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
CCC Wildlife SIG, July 2019 Kayak or Trails Photo Shoot at Trap Pond
Monday, July 22nd, 9am till 12noon
I would like to propose an outing to Trap Pond. The outing can be by Kayak, for a tour of the beautiful Trap Pond State Park and Bald Cypress Swamp. OR, if you don’t want to do the kayak tour, you can walk the nature trails on the west side of the Pond that provide nice opportunities to see wildlife on the pond. Provided, are wooden platforms extending out over the water that make good spot for images of the Bald Cypress trees. Trap Pond is the northern most natural stand of Bald Cypress in the US.
Just know, that the Boat House will not take reservations for their Kayak rentals. 9:00am is when they open and should be plenty of kayaks available to rent.
The cost of Single kayak is $9.00 per hour.
The cost of Tandem/two seater kayak is $11.00 per hour.
Please Respond to this e-mail if you wish to rent a kayak from the boat house. Or, if you will be bringing your own kayak to launch at the Boat Launch.
I and any others that bring their own Kayak, can launch their kayak approx. 8:30am at the boat Launch. Across the pond from the boat house. I will be launching their and then paddle across to the boat house to meet-up with others.
We will meet at 9:00am at the Boat House, on the pond, to the left of the bald Cypress Nature Center at Trapp Pond State Park; Google Maps
From there we can break up depending on the Kayakers or walking tour. Then, meet up again approx. 11 am back at the Boat House.
Just in case, don’t forget your bug spray.
